ABOUT LOAF AQUAPONICS

LoAF Aquaponics is a farm company local to the metro-Atlanta area. At LoAF, we are driven by a two-fold mission: 1) to provide healthy, organic produce in Atlanta and beyond, and 2) to address the alarming health concerns stemming from malnutrition in communities that suffer from socioeconomic issues.

OUR URBAN FARM OF FRESH ORGANIC PRODUCE

What is Aquaponics?
Aquaponics (AH-kwa-PON-iks) is a method of growing food that raises fish and vegetables in a single, self-sustaining ecosystem. Byproducts of our fish tanks – extra fish food and effluents – serve as a rich, chemical-free fertilizer for our plants, allowing us to grow nutritious produce quickly in a single, garden system. Most importantly, aquaponics requires no genetically modified organisms, pesticides, synthetics or enhancers.

BENEFITS OF AQUAPONICS

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

Water Conservation
Aquaponics requires 90% less water than traditional farming.
Gas Conservation
Being located in the heart of our end market reduces harmful gas emissions and “food miles” when transporting our products to stores and businesses.
Land Conservation

Aquaponics offers more produce in less time than traditional farming. It’s also much more efficient, producing on average six times more veggies per square foot, reducing the need for land.

HEALTH & NUTRIENTS

No Chemicals
Aquaponic raised fish do not have any growth hormones, mercury, antibiotics or Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), a toxin found in some drinking water.
Protein Conversion

Fish can rapidly convert plant protein to animal protein. which serves as a nutrient-rich fertilizer for our produce.
